IMPORTANT

If there is anything I want people to take away from my website it is this.  Before buying furniture ANYWHERE, use the dealer locator look up at Vaughan-Bassett’s website (blue link below) and MAKE SURE YOU STEER CLEAR OF VAUGHAN-BASSETT’s RETAIL PARTNERS.  If they do business with Vaughan-Bassett, they are likely crooked and not worth the nightmare.  This could not have been more true for Vaughan-Bassett’s retail partner FurniturePick that I had to deal with.  The lying FurniturePick “service representative” bent me over good.  I bought the “good cop-bad cop" act  FurniturePick and Vaughan-Bassett have going for quite some time before it dawned on me they were in cahoots with their deceptive stock photos scam.  Buyer beware.

Expose Your Corporate Devil

It was surprising to me when I went digging for consumer-centric review sites that there were not more resources.   My assumption is the demand for more is not there.

Regardless, I give all consumers who have been put through hell with any business or corporate entity an open invitation to outline your consumer experience on my website.

I would love a reason to make this venue interactive.

You can contact me at scorchedpleb@gmail.com if you are interested, and I will figure it out from there.

The Summary of My Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Buying Experience

The consecutive steps I took seeking justice for the deceptive advertising Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Company and their retail partner FurniturePick engaged in to sell me my prized Vaughan-Bassett Freddy Krueger bedroom set.

The consolidated summary slides start at the 7:41 time mark in the video.

Check out the deceptive stock photos that these fraudsters used to reel me in with and compare them to what showed up on my curb. Featuring an in depth analysis of the "Fine Print" policies Vaughan-Bassett and FurniturePick tie to a customer's bill of sale that grant both Vaughan-Bassett and FurniturePick complete immunity from their deceptive advertising practices. Outcome of the complaint I filed against Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Company via the Virginia Attorney General's Office, and next steps in seeking justice for the Vaughan-Bassett Freddy Krueger bedroom set I was sold that looks nothing like the stock photos.  Vaughan-Bassett still insists they were not in the wrong, which means to this day they continue with their deceptive practices.  Do not trust Vaughan-Basset and do not trust their retail partners.  Please learn from my experience so something positive can come out of it.

Results of my outreach to the New York State Division of Consumer Protection and the New York State Office of the Attorney General Bureau of Consumer Fraud with regard to my Vaughan-Bassett Furniture drama, and next steps in seeking justice for the Vaughan-Bassett Freddy Krueger bedroom set I was sold that looks nothing like the stock photos.  Vaughan-Bassett insists they were not in the wrong, which means to this day they continue with their deceptive practices.  Do not trust Vaughan-Basset and do not trust their retail partners.  Please learn from my experience so something positive can come out of it.

Excerpts From My Hail Mary Pass for Retail Justice to the Trump Administration February 17, 2025 via https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ Webform

I bought furniture from Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Manufacturers and I was shocked at the lack of consumer protection provided by all levels of government upon receiving the furniture set I purchased (through their retail partner FurniturePick.com  on the internet), which had a completely different finish, color and texture than what was advertised in the stock photos used at the website to sell me the furniture.

I have documented my experience in its entirety on YouTube.  I outlined exactly what was different between what I received and the stock photos used to sell the furniture, and every step I took reaching out to consumer protection agencies and the attorneys generals’ offices (in both my home state of New York and the state Vaughan-Bassett Manufacturing operates out of, Virginia).  The only thing either of these attorney generals’s offices were interested in was assisting Vaughan-Bassett with buying my silence, which was not for sale because I think it is important to make other consumers aware of the level of deceptive advertising these companies partake in.

If companies like Vaughan-Bassett are allowed to get away with using deceptive stock photos to sell furniture on the internet KNOWING THOSE WHO ARE SHOPPING FOR THE PRODUCTS ARE COMPLETELY RELIANT ON THEIR STOCK PHOTOS, and nothing can be done to protect consumers, then they should no longer have the right to sell furniture on the internet at all.  It is the simplest and most cost effective way I can think of to remedy the issue, seeing attorney generals at the state level seem unable to get around to doing anything to ensure these companies are not defrauding the American public.

Please keep in mind that while I purchased my furniture online and there was no showroom where I could see and touch the physical merchandise, that Vaughan-Bassett through their disclaimers also reserves the right to send consumers the version of their furniture that I received regardless if an order is placed IN PERSON AFTER THE CUSTOMER HAS SEEN AND TOUCHED THE FURNITURE THAT THEY BELIEVE IS A REPRESENTATION OF WHAT THEY WILL RECEIVE WHEN IT IS DELIVERED TO THEIR HOME.  So addressing these disclaimers isn’t just about helping internet shoppers, it is about helping ALL FURNITURE CONSUMERS.

My YouTube presentations detail everything you need to know about my Vaughan-Bassett furniture purchase and the astounding level of fraud Vaughan-Bassett and their retail partners get away with in the current consumer environment.

The White House's April 18, 2025 Canned Response (that doesn't address my outreach at all - oh well - it was worth a shot) to My Hail Mary Pass for Retail Justice to the Trump Administration February 17, 2025 via https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ Webform.

Lawyers for the Poor

Video: How to Access Free Lawyer-Provided Answers to Your Legal Questions-Resource for Low Income Citizens

*Please note, participating states include: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, USVI, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

A presentation that gives information and step-by-step instructions on how to access free, lawyer-provided answers to legal questions for low income citizens.  You can ask up to three questions a year!

In addition to informing people this resource exists and how to access it, I put this presentation together so people can see exactly what information is requested from you to participate in the ABA's Free Legal Answers Program prior to signing up.  I find that with a lot of government and professionally sponsored resources out there, you have to register BEFORE you can get the full context of what information they mandate from you, and I find that frustrating.

I used this service to ask a question related to consumer rights, and while I was not in love with the answer to my question (which was in line with what I expected), the program’s process was flawless for this question.  The turnaround time between asking the question and getting a lawyer’s response was just a few hours.

While my question was related to consumer rights, this service is available for other types of legal questions, too.  In my presentation I will highlight the legal questions this resource covers and give you a couple other government websites that may help you with the legal area you are looking for help on, too.

Please note, the ABA has ignored 2 (both non-furniture related) out of 3 of my free legal questions to date.  A 33.3% ABA response rate isn't fabulous, but it's still better than 0% and it costs nothing to ask.
